Choosing the right Senior School is a big decision: some families know straight away that a school is the place for them, others like to take a longer look. At Farnborough Hill, we know there is no 'right' way, but we will do our very best to ensure you have all the information and support you need to make the best decision for your daughter's future.
Whatever stage you are at in your decision making, please give us a call on 01252 226908. Our Registrar, Emily Murnieks, would be delighted to talk to you about Farnborough Hill and how we approach admissions. If you’d prefer, you can complete our ‘Get in touch’ form instead and we will call you back.
Joining Farnborough Hill
We love meeting prospective pupils and their families. You are very warmly invited to come and see us to get a true feel for Farnborough Hill.
Our Open Afternoons are the best place to start. The open house format genuinely offers you ‘access all areas’ and, most importantly, it allows you the time to explore those places which interest you and your daughter most. Feel free to drop into any of our lessons or browse our co-curricular fair and experience for yourself what our inspirational teachers have to offer. You’ll find our pupils and staff have plenty to share with you as you dive deep into Farnborough Hill and we hope you leave us feeling inspired and excited at the prospect of your family joining our community.
An alternative option is an individual tour with the Admissions Team. You’ll have the chance to visit classrooms and departments, see lessons in action and speak with as many members of staff and current pupils as possible. We’re very happy to tailor your tour to your daughter’s particular interests or if you’d prefer, we can be your guide and share everything we think you might like to see.
Please feel free to visit us as many times as you like. Simply fill out our 'Book an Open Afternoon' form to secure your space on an Open Afternoon of your choice or contact Emily Murnieks on 01252 545197 or by email at [email protected] to arrange your tour.
Experience Us
There are also other opportunities to visit and experience the School, including the jam-packed Year 5 Busy Bees Taster Day and, in Year 6, F’Hill Fridays (to which all girls who are registered for the entrance exam are invited).
Once you know you would like to pursue a place for your daughter at Farnborough Hill, you will need to register her for the entrance assessments.
All you need to do is complete and submit our registration form. Please find the Sixth Form registration form here. We also ask for a non-refundable registration fee of £100.
If you are interested in applying for a scholarship or bursary, please do read our Scholarship Booklet and Bursary Guide first and then ensure you tick the appropriate box(es) on the registration form if you decide you would like to apply for either. After the registration deadline we will send a supplementary application form for your daughter to complete for each scholarship or a bursary. Please be aware that girls are invited to the Academic Scholarship assessment on the basis of their performance in the entrance assessments; no other application is needed in advance of this.
The registration deadline for entry into Year 7 in September 2026 is Monday 3 November 2025* and assessments will take place at Farnborough Hill in December 2025.
*Please note that if you wish to apply for means-tested financial assistance (a bursary award), we must have received your registration by Friday 10 October 2025.
Year 7 September 2025 Entry
If you are interested in applying for a place to join in September 2025, please contact us before completing a registration form as the registration date has now passed. Please be aware that applications for scholarships and bursaries for this intake are now closed.
Where we have places, girls are welcome to join us outside of the main 11+ intake. Please do get in touch and we will be happy to help.
Maria Young likes to meet with every pupil and their parents who have registered to join Farnborough Hill - it is an important part of us getting to know you, and you getting to know us.
If you are looking for a place in Year 7, your meeting will take place in the Summer or Autumn Term before your daughter joins us (ie the last term of Year 5 or the first term of Year 6). For entry into other Year Groups, we arrange the meeting on an ad-hoc basis.
The entrance assessment for 11+ entry is taken in the winter, for admission the following September and consists of a one-hour long CEM test, a team-building activity and group interview, and a 45-minute creative writing paper. This is all reviewed in conjunction with a reference from your daughter’s current school.

For pupils applying for entry into Year 7 in September 2025, the entrance assessment will be held on Monday 16 December 2024.
Entry into Year 9
Each year we offer a small number of deferred places to Year 6 pupils looking to join us in Year 9. If you would like to take this route, your daughter will need to be registered with us by the November deadline in her Year 6 and she will also sit her entrance assessments in Year 6. A deferred place will be offered to those pupils we feel will be able to adapt to senior school at this later stage. Your daughter’s place will be conditional on a final reference and school report from her current school that we will request during Year 8. There will also be another short assessment during Year 8. These results will help us place your daughter in the most appropriate class for Maths and English.
Should demand for places exceed available space or we feel that a Year 9 deferred place isn’t the best option for your daughter, we may offer her a place in Year 7 instead or invite her to visit us again in Year 8 for a further assessment.
If you have missed the deferred entry deadline but are still looking for a Year 9 place, please do get in touch. If we have places we would be very happy to consider your daughter.
Entry into the Sixth Form
Each year, we are delighted to welcome new students into our Sixth Form. Entry into the Sixth Form does not require an entrance examination; however, pupils wishing to be considered for Sixth Form Scholarships need to be registered by October half term. Any offer of a place in the Sixth Form is made based on a successful interview and will be conditional upon GCSE results.

Entry into other Year Groups or outside of the main entry points of Year 7, 9 and Sixth Form depends on there being a space in that Year Group. Should a space be available, we will contact your daughter’s current school for a reference and then an arrange an entrance assessment at a time that is convenient for you and your daughter. The format for the examination is the same as for 11+ entry, adjusted for age, and there is also a 45-minute handwritten English paper as well as a meeting with the Head.
We always send out offers as soon as possible following the entrance assessment. For 11+ entrants who sit on the main assessment day, we will do our best to send the results before Christmas, but this may not always be possible. For those joining other Year Groups, an offer will be sent as soon as possible following the assessment.
Any offer of a place is secured upon our receipt of the completed acceptance paperwork and acceptance deposit, the deadline for which will be stated in the offer letter.
Once you accept our offer of a place you are part of the vibrant Farnborough Hill community and we look forward to welcoming you wholeheartedly to our family.
