Uniform

Most of our uniform can be purchased online from Schoolblazer although certain items are also available elsewhere.  You will find all the information you need about our uniform on our Uniform List.

The Farnborough Hill Friends run pre-loved uniform sales throughout the year including on the Year 7 Introduction Day in June. Sales are normally advertised through Classlist and Weekly F’Hill, our weekly newsletter.

School Lunches

School lunches are prepared on-site by our chefs and served in the 'Ref’. The vast majority of pupils choose to enjoy our home-cooked food and we offer them a wide a variety of choices each day alongside daily favourites such as jacket potatoes, pasta and soup as well as sandwiches made to order from our deli counter.

We know that some girls prefer to have their own packed lunch and they are very welcome to enjoy these alongside their friends in the Ref.

Mobile Phones

At Farnborough Hill we want to support all our pupils to be the very best versions of themselves, to enjoy their time here and to make the most of all the opportunities they have. We proactively teach the girls how to make and maintain positive relationships, look after their wellbeing and stay safe. Developing a healthy mindset and a positive attitude to learning underpins all of this.

We all know that the pressures upon our teenagers to develop an unhealthy attachment to their phones are immense and unrelenting and have increasingly seen that for some pupils, their mobile phones have become a distraction to learning and a negative influence upon their mental health and wellbeing. Research shows that where schools have limited access to mobile phones, there is a consequent improvement in learning outcomes, mental health and pupils’ social interaction skills.

Farnborough Hill is therefore now ‘phone-free’ for all girls in Years 7 – 11 and we use Yondr pouches to support this. Pupils simply place their phone in the pouch at the start of the day and place it in their bag, where it remains throughout the school day, before unlocking it at the end of the day at one of the many unlocking stations around the School. For those who need access to their phone for medical reasons, an alternative pouch is available.

If you are interested in exploring this topic in more detail, we can highly recommend educational psychologist and renowned podcaster, Dr Maryhan, who we work with regularly as part of our wellbeing and pastoral support programme for both pupils and parents. She has produced a range of podcasts, including her two-part series ‘What’s All The Fuss About Smartphones?’ which can be accessed via your usual podcast platform.
