On Monday, we celebrated our second annual Culture Day! This day was filled with lots of fun activities which helped us to learn more about the amazing array of cultures in our school.
We started the day with our Assembly, in which various members of the School, from Year 7s to sixth formers and even teachers took the opportunity to talk to the rest of the School about their cultures. We also enjoyed musical performances from the Samba Band and Shubangi (8α). We were especially fortunate to be joined by Ms Michelle Furey, who taught us some basic phrases in Irish.
During the day, Year 7 and 8 had the opportunity to, in place of their usual language lessons, learn some more Irish with Ms Furey. These sessions were full of energy and a lot of fun!
At lunchtime, there was more for everyone to get involved with. This started with the brilliant Culture Day lunch, for which the Catering Team truly pulled out all the stops to create a diverse and delicious lunch. Also, we held a Culture Market in the Hall, where girls from all Year Groups had the opportunity to create a stall featuring food, items, games and facts from their cultures. We even had Céilí dancing sessions, led by Ms Furey, which everyone really enjoyed.
Overall, Culture Day was a huge success and we're already looking forward to next year’s celebration. Thank you so much to everyone who was involved, we really couldn’t have done it without you!
