Last Friday evening, the Hill filled with families and friends as we gathered for the Cinema on the Hill event. In stark contrast to last year, brollies and water-proof picnic blankets were the order of the evening as the light drizzle started and stopped... and started again. This did not dampen spirits, however, instead it lent a cosy atmosphere as people squeezed together to stay dry.
The food trucks did a roaring trade selling curry, burgers and more, while sweet treats of candyfloss and popcorn were bought in abundance. Music poured from the speakers and a selfie-on-the-big-screen gave revellers something to watch, when they weren't busy catching up with old friends (we saw you, Class of 22!).
As the skies darkened, the LED screen belted our the opening bars and a hush fell as the story of Barnum's Circus unfolded. In keeping with the tradition started last year, the girls ended the film with a dance-a-long to the closing song.
A huge thank you to the Friends for organising such a brilliant event - it might not have been the greatest weather, but it was the greatest show!
