On Wednesday 20 November, we were thrilled to welcome back Old Girl, Dr Rachel Andrews (1985). Having completed her pre-clinical and clinical training at The University of Oxford and Imperial College respectively, Dr Andrews focused on paediatrics and ultimately became a Consultant in paediatric cardiology. She has worked as a Consultant Cardiologist at Great Ormond Street Hospital and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health. Dr Andrews now works as a Medical Advisor for an international Christian charity and very generously gave up her time to conduct mock interviews with five aspiring medical Sixth Form students.

These mock interviews were designed to replicate the rigorous selection process faced by medical school applicants. Dr Andrews probed the students on their motivations for pursuing medicine, their understanding of the challenges and rewards of the profession and their ability to think critically and solve problems. The sixth formers found it an invaluable experience, appreciating the opportunity to receive constructive feedback on their communication skills and ability to think on their feet.

The students express their gratitude to Dr Rachel Andrews for empowering them to approach future interviews with confidence and poise and we are thankful for her generosity to supporting the next generation of medical professionals.
