Sixth Form Farnborough_Hill_News

On Thursday 26 September, Year 11 families - both current pupils and those from other schools - flocked to the Hill to learn more about our outstanding Sixth Form provision. The event provided a comprehensive overview of the opportunities and experiences available to Year 11s transitioning to the Sixth Form.

Mrs Maria Young, Headmistress, and Mrs Pippa Sutton, Head of Sixth Form, delivered addresses to parents highlighting the unique advantages of Sixth Form life at Farnborough Hill. Mr Craig McCready, Deputy Head - Operations and Mr Andrew Smith, Assistant Head of Sixth Form, shared insights with Year 11 into the academic and co-curricular aspects of the programme. The current Head Girl, Delilah, and Deputy Head Girl, Gabriella, took part in a Q&A session and spoke eloquently about their leadership experiences, social life, and personalised support within the Sixth Form. The message for both groups was clear: our mix of academic prowess and the wholehearted extras (RE-Act, Enrichment, UCAS Support, to name but a few) will give the girls the best finale to their compulsory education, setting them up for their next steps towards the future they desire.

Year 11 pupils then had the opportunity to attend subject-specific sessions, in which Sixth Form teachers discussed their respective courses and answered questions. Current sixth formers were also on hand to provide insights and guidance. Kindly joining us for the evening were 18 Old Girls, who, after successfully navigating the Sixth Form, have gone on to achieve great things and were able to offer their perspectives in each session. They shared their personal experiences, providing valuable guidance.

Families also had the opportunity to explore the Lafosse Sixth Form Centre, where they enjoyed king-worthy canapés!

The Sixth Form Open Evening was a resounding success, providing a wealth of information to prospective students and their families. We extend our sincere thanks to all who attended.
