As part of the nationwide Heritage Open Days scheme, Farnborough Hill proudly opened its doors to the public on Saturday 14 September. The event was a resounding success, drawing in over 500 visitors keen to discover the rich history and heritage of our school.
From admiring Emperor Napoleon III’s emblem on our unique architecture to taking in the views from the bay windows in the Grand Salon, there was something for everyone to enjoy. Visitors explored the School Chapel and Library and our beautiful grounds as well as the exterior of this special building. A dedicated team of staff and volunteers were on hand to share fascinating stories about the School's past, from its founding to significant milestones in our history. Visitors were offered hot drinks and cake in the Refectory. Many chose to sit and relax indoors while others took their drinks outside to enjoy the sunshine.
The positive response from visitors was overwhelming. Many commented on the informative and engaging nature of the event and expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to learn more about our school's heritage.
We are already planning ahead to next year's Heritage Open Day as we are eager to continue sharing Farnborough Hill's history with as many people as possible. Thank you to everyone who contributed to making the event such a success, in particular to those parents who volunteered their time. It was a wonderful opportunity to share a piece of school life with the community.
