Monday evening kicked off this academic year with our first Informal Music Concert, setting the stage for pupils to shine and treating the audience to a delightful, relaxed evening of music.  The event featured the premiere performances of our two newest pupil-led ensembles; Flute Group, which is run by Gemma (U6CSK) on a Thursday lunchtime, performed a captivating arrangement of Ronde and Pavane from Susato’s three dances, meanwhile, String Group, run by Annabel (U6CSK), performed a Latin-American street dance called La Cumparsita.  Both groups did an amazing job and we are very proud of them.

The evening featured a diverse range of musical talent with genres ranging from 20th century, to Pop and Latin American.  Swing Band performed two Adele chart toppers, Skyfall and Rolling in the Deep.  On the other hand, Orchestra performed three movements of the Capriol Suite by Peter Warlock, comprising a set of dances in a Renaissance style.  Members of the Year 7 Choir had their first opportunity to perform at a school event, singing Do-Re-Mi and The Lion Sleeps Tonight.  The choir is open to all members of the Year Group and is an opportunity to experience the fun of choral singing in a relaxed environment.  Their repertoire includes a variety of songs, most of which involve fun actions, all whilst building confidence and basic vocal technique.
