On Tuesday, our new Year 7s arrived for their Induction Day - ‘The class of 2030’, embarking on their secondary school adventure. They all did extremely well on a very busy (and very hot!) first day and looked incredibly smart in their new uniforms. They were polite and courteous with a mix of positive curiosity. Friendships were formed, games were played, which of course included rolling down the Hill for some, and then the morning began with them getting their timetables and House books. They were taken on a tour of the School and shown key landmarks such as the water fountains and the lost property cupboard. The girls seemed to very much enjoy finding their lockers; some had even come prepared with box organisers, magnets and even lighting to place inside!
It is not just Year 7 who have impressed us with their enthusiasm but we have also been left feeling proud by the welcoming nature of our school community, from Year 8 pupils turning up with small gifts for their Year 7 Buddy, to the Year 11s who kindly waited at the end of the day to walk the new Year 7 girls to the station.
The Year 7 Pastoral team are super excited to get to know the girls over the coming days and they very much hope that Year 7 are already starting to feel as if they belong. We are delighted to have them!
