The Hampshire round of this National competition took place on Wednesday 11 October at Winchester Leisure Centre.  Over 500 schools have entered into this National Schools Competition.

We entered all three of the age groups and all three teams qualified for the Regional Final on Wednesday 8 November.  This is a superb achievement and the first time Farnborough Hill have got this far in all three age groups so it is very exciting.

Junior Girls: Freyja Ridge (8A) 2nd, Jessica Johnson (8α) 5th, Charlotte Simms (8α) 15th, Isla Bowden (8α) 19th, Annabel Lambert (8ω) 29th out of 47 County athletes.  The team finished in third place out of eight schools and ahead of St Swithuns and Portsmouth Grammar - amazing!

Intermediate Girls: Charlotte Mitchell (10α) 4th, Jessica Mitchell (10B) 5th, Martha Cruikshanks (10ω) 9th, Darcey Tower (10ω) 14th, Lauren Lee (10A) 15th out of 48 County athletes.  The team finished in second place out of nine teams and ahead of Churcher's College, St Swithun's and Portsmouth Grammar.  Super impressive results!

Senior Girls: Amelia Smith (U6CSK) 6th, Freya Garside (U6CSK) 9th, Amber Scofield (11ω) 10th, Harriette Brooks (11B) 12th.  They finished in 3rd place amongst schools such as St Swithun's and Meoncross so a fabulous result.  Not many schools are able to field a Senior team which includes athletes from Years 11 to Upper Sixth.  We are very proud of our girls that still enjoy their running.  Keep it up!

A special congratulations to Freya in Year 8 for finishing in 2nd place - the best individual performance out of all our runners and she happens to be the youngest too!  This is a team event and we are delighted with everyone's performance.  It is always a tough course in this competition and the girls complete a course distance of either 2.4k, 2.8k or 3.3k.  The team results are indicative of the support the girls show towards each other.  Well done, everyone!

A big thank you must go to Miss Naomi Lynch for taking them to Winchester.

Last year our Intermediate Girls reached the National Finals and finished in 5th place which was the best team position reached by a Farnborough Hill team in this competition.

Best of luck to everyone at the Regional Finals.
